Our School Council's Social Action Project
The School Council participated in a Zoom workshop with a company named GameChangers. Game changers is a social action programme which aims to inspire a habit of volunteering in young Londoners. It is supported by the Mayor of London and funded by Team London and #iwill.’ Big Ideas coordinated an introductory workshop with the school councillors virtually.
The workshop explored how London has recovered during other times of crisis, discussed relatable social action role models and looked at examples of social action to inspire your students. The team then guided and provided support for the school councillors to plan their own social action project. Amazingly, the children decided to organise a sponsored run to raise awareness about homelessness.
Each year group were given different tasks which will take place in the summer term. Year 3 school councillors are in charge of making posters and flyers to raise awareness about Homelessness and the sponsored run. Year 4 students form the Donations Team. Year 5 students are in charge of research and Year 6 students form the liaison team. We can’t wait to start our project and start changing the world!
