Lathom Junior School

Ofsted

As Executive Head, I am delighted to welcome OFSTED inspectors to Lathom Junior School. On this page you will find links to our last Ofsted reports, The Ofsted Data Dashboard and Ofsted Parent View.

For our parents and visitors finding out about how well our schools are doing, Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They report directly to the Government and are independent and impartial. They inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

Ofsted come into schools every three to four years to make judgements about:

  • The quality of learning and teaching within the school
  • The progress that all of our children make
  • How well the school keeps children safe and how well behaved your children are when learning and moving around school
  • The quality of leadership and management of the school

A report is then written and published on the Ofsted website. Please click on the link to view Lathom's Ofsted Reports. Our most recent report (March 2017) is attached below.

Lathom was judged as a ‘GOOD’ school in March 2017. Ofsted will inspect good schools and further education and skills providers once every three years under a new short inspection model. Inspectors will start from a premise that the school or provider is still good and focus on ensuring that those standards are being maintained. They will check that leaders have identified key areas of concern and that they have the capacity to address them.

Ofsted produce a set of figures about how the school is achieving in relation to other schools across the country, this is called the Data Dashboard.

Clicking the link below will take you to the Ofsted Data Dashboard, and if you type in the name of the school you will see the results of our achievements.

Ofsted also has a section on their website where it wants to get the views of the parents within the school. There are 12 questions to answer and you will have to register to use this part of the Ofsted website.

Please click on the link below to take you straight to the Parent View page.

I hope this information is useful and that you all click on the Parent View page.
