Fortnite Awareness

Fortnite continues to be an extremely popular online game with many children accessing this from home.

Please be aware that Fortnite, as an online game, allows players to link up and communicate with others using headsets and microphones. This has led to reports of children being groomed. In fact on Tuesday 3rd April, the National Crime Agency warned that Fortnite is putting children at risk from online paedophiles.

Please ensure that you know who your child is gaming with and possibly turn off the audio so they can just play the game without any outside communication. Be aware that because usernames are used, children may think they are playing with friends when they are actually open to abuse by strangers. The NSPCC has detailed advice for parents on keeping children safe online and identifying if grooming is taking place.
