Anti-bullying Week 2020
Anti-bullying Week is observed in the UK from the 16th to the 20th November. Organiser of this nationwide event, the Anti-bullying Alliance, intends to raise awareness of the issue of bullying among children, especially in schools. This year’s theme is ‘United against bullying’.
Parents, carers and school staff play a pivotal role in preventing bullying as they focus on utilising various strategies to support children and provide an open platform for them to share any issues they have with bullying.
On Monday 16th November, we start with Odd Socks Day to mark the first day of Anti-bullying Week and Lathom students will wear odd socks to highlight that they are all unique.
Years 3 and 4 students will learn how to use courage and kindness to become united against bullying. Years 5 and 6 students will focus on being ‘Stronger Together’. They will discuss how they could prevent bullying from happening at their school. Also, they will create an Anti-bullying wall display.
Here is an example of an Anti-bullying wall display in Yew class.
To end Anti-bullying Week on the 20th November, all children are encouraged to wear the ‘brightest of colours’ as they show how they are all different and united as a school community.
